"I initially came to The River Source Mesa from the other side of the country with extreme doubt, hesitation, and skepticism. The reason I chose The River Source was for its holistic and 12-step approach to treatment. To my surprise, the nutritional (IV bags, aminos) focus; in addition to yoga, massage, sauna, and acupuncture was a key component in my recovery. I experienced that The River Source was unique and unlike any other rehab I’ve been to in the emphasis and requirement placed on working the 12-steps while in treatment with a sponsor. Also integral to my recovery is how The River Source incorporates life/living skills, behavioral therapies, spirituality, recreation/life balance, and supervised activities out of the facility to encourage interaction with sober society.
As a recent transplant to Arizona I was extremely scared, but to my surprise, the enormous and solid recovery scene in addition to the network/fellowship that The River Source helped provide will be an important asset to my recovery.
Who would’ve thought I’d get clean and sober and start a new life in the desert!

"I was a broken individual before coming to The River Source. Drugs and Alcohol had taken total control over my life. I could not stand being sober, I was not comfortable in my own skin. I lost any job I ever had, failed college time and time again, lost all respect from my family, and I had no self worth.

"My name is George, I am 31 years old, I have been an addict since the age of 16 and previously attempted rehabs, IOP and seen countless counselors to try and beat my addiction. Unfortunately nothing worked for me. When I arrived at the River Source I was hopeless, broken and scared but everyone welcomed me with open arms and made me feel comfortable. "My addiction to alcohol brought me to River Source. River Source was recommended by my IOP, Desert Star ARC in Tucson. In the short time I’ve known Richard Poppy, I’ve realized I can trust him and accept his advice without reservation. There are no words to describe how terrified I was when checking in on Friday. Filling out the admission papers was a multiple emotional event for me. I knew I needed help and felt good about starting, but the shame built and embarrassment was lurking right behind. That first night, when I learned how high my blood pressure was only added to my fear. FortunatelyYsidro found a way to calm me enough to be able to start treatment, I felt better immediately. "I got to River Source after an awful relapse put me in the emergency room. I came to River Source to detox but got so much more. River Source was recommended by numerous friends in the recovery community, and now I see why.
My 16 day stay ended up being a spiritual journey which got me to the point of finally understanding my deadly disease Alcoholism. I found the staff to be compassionate and genuinely caring. "I have been staring at this blank page for a couple of days now because I don’t know what to say; or rather, HOW to say it. I am so very grateful to The River Source that I have had a hard time putting it into words. The entire staff, the clients and the recovering community at the Casa Grande location brought me back from the brink of total self-destruction.
I had relapsed after a significant period of sobriety, and I was very rapidly headed downhill. I saw my life and all that I had slipping through my fingers … and the phenomenon of craving had a stronghold on me. My ego seemed hell-bent on killing me, but I somehow managed to reach out for help, called the River Source and spoke to Brenda Emerick. I was offered a lifeline and given a second chance.
The 12-step Holistic approach at the River Source is what grabbed my attention. I had enjoyed 19 years of living through the 12 steps before taking my will back. I knew that I had to work on mind, body and spirit in order to recover from the terminal disease of addiction. The River Source promised and delivered on their services to give me my life back.
The Clinic at the River Source is highly trained in dealing with the disease of addiction and is manned 24 hours by extremely professional and compassionate individuals that truly cared about my recovery and wellbeing. I was given Nutritional IV’s, acupuncture, massage, amino acids and unparalleled care and kindness. The cafeteria provided delicious and nutritious meals (complete with garnish and a touch of class!) by a staff of friendly chefs. I was given the chance to work out at an offsite gym, participate in Yoga and meditation and enjoy hiking and outdoor activities. The counseling and life coaching offered to me was life changing by delving into issues that I had never before confronted. The BHTs that man to facility are all very compassionate about their role and their desire to help the clientele recover. And finally the many opportunities to attend 12-step meetings brought me back to my old sober self and should not be missed.
I am grateful beyond words to the staff at the Casa Grande location and will sing the praises of the River Source to anyone in need of help or guidance from the terrible disease of addiction.

"My experience at The River Source has been life changing. Not only did the exceptional staff help me to gather the tools I need to remain sober, they also helped me get back in touch with my emotions and taught me how to face them, thus removing the “excuse” to drink. They also helped me get my life back in balance, getting me back in touch with my spiritual side. I now have balance – mind, body, and spirit.
The medical staff is incredible and my expectations were more than met. I specifically chose the River Source because of its holistic approach. The yoga classes also played a big part in both my decision to come here and in my recovery. "I came to The River Source partially because I recognized the fact that I needed the help, and my family and friends had told me for years that it was necessary. My brother had interned at the Naturopathic Clinic and swore by this facility, and that is how I was directed to this place, nothing happens by mistake. The experience I was given here is unlike anything I have ever had before. The River Source helped me to find God, find sobriety, realize my defects, accept change, look for growth, and so much more. My life now is on a level I never thought attainable. I am happy with who I am, knowing it is ok to make mistakes and recognize my imperfections, which in the past was never okay, and with God I never have to be alone.
