How We Assess Treatment Outcomes
How can you know your treatment at The River Source will succeed and help you find long-term sobriety? While there are no guarantees, we believe your chances are good if you do the work – and we have the data to back us up to ensure you receive positive addiction treatment outcomes.
We’re pleased to reveal findings from our latest Brief Addiction Monitor (BAM), a multidimensional measurement tool for patients in substance-disorder treatment. We can’t promise you that you will have the same success, but we believe it’s an encouraging finding.
The BAM measures drug and alcohol use, risk factors for substance use, and protective factors that support sobriety. It can be used in treatment planning, progress monitoring, and group or individual psychotherapies for SUD.

Our Treatment Assessment Findings
The BAM shows that the risk of substance use declined as their exposure to preventive therapy increased for clients in the assessment who have undergone addiction treatment with us. Over a 120-day period, the risk of substance use fell to only about one-quarter of the rate at the beginning, while the rate of protection from use almost doubled.
At The River Source, you will take the BAM assessment every 30 days or at the beginning and end of each stage in our continuum of care; this begins with initial detox and progresses through residential, outpatient, and post-rehab stages, as well as partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient care if you need it.
It will calculate your risk and protection factors by looking at several dimensions. These include your recent pattern of substance use, whether you are experiencing cravings, your confidence and satisfaction with recovery, and your physical and mental health. It will also examine your financial security, spirituality, and whether you have emotional and practical support from networks of family and friends.
Not all treatment centers track or report this data. But as a member of the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers and its Foundation for Recovery Science and Education (FoRSE), we believe treatment programs must be based on solid, scientifically derived data. We share the ForSE mission “to improve addiction treatment through science, technology, and education.”
The River Source Model for Success
Our program uses evidence-based therapies with proven results in mind. We call this our Reclaim Your Life program, which seeks to help your find long-term, lifetime recovery with strategies and tools you can call on long after leaving treatment. It’s always delivered with honesty, integrity, and kindness, focusing on results based on genuinely effective care.
The key is our holistic approach, treating the whole person: body, mind, and spirit. It is a highly individualized program but follows a standard path. You will most likely begin with detox, an introductory phase that prepares the body for therapy by ridding it of the toxins accumulated over months or years. This can be a rough time, but qualified staff will constantly monitor you and may administer nutritional IV therapy or medication-assisted treatment.
After detox, you will move to our residential treatment programs, which include group therapy, individual counseling, family therapy, and therapy for co-occurring substance abuse and emotional disorders. If you have special needs, we probably have a special program for you; these include tracks for pregnant women, Native Americans, and anyone whose addiction may have been caused or influenced by severe trauma in their past.
You’ve probably read about other addiction programs that tempt you with descriptions of luxurious accommodations and gourmet dining. You won’t find that here. We offer comfortable surroundings – you can watch TV in detox and rehab, for instance, and we have fitness equipment, games, and recreational activities – but it’s not a luxury. We’d rather focus on results, and we think you will too.
Our Recovery Guarantee
This is one way in which we far surpass the luxury programs.
It’s a simple promise. If you successfully complete our full continuum of care and follow our treatment plan but relapse within a year of graduation, you may return to the facility for treatment at no charge to ensure positive addiction treatment outcomes.
With data like what we’re seeing in the BAM, we are confident you won’t need to redeem that guarantee because you will receive positive addiction treatment outcomes. Please call The River Source at 866-828-6792 to learn more about our addiction treatment team.
