Why did you choose a career with The River Source?
Like many other people in this field, I wanted to help people who struggle with substance abuse. It’s a great need in our society, and I felt called to come work in this field.
What was the interview process like?
The interview process was pretty relaxed and easygoing, like they were trying to get to better know me as a person first. I got a really good sense of the culture and vibes at The River Source just from the interview.
How would you describe the training process?
I shadowed others for a while and was taught all the steps needed for my position. The hands-on component, where you’re learning on the job, helped me out a lot.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I get to network with other professionals in the rehab industry, and it’s all collaborative and not competitive. It’s all for the greater good of helping those who are still struggling with addiction, because we share these goals of helping people get sober.
How would you describe the culture and work environment?
There’s a great family feel at The River Source, and it’s the type of family that actually supports each other. It’s your chosen family.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of working at The River Source?
I really enjoy watching people go through rehab and unlock that person that they were always meant to be.
How has The River Source helped you develop your professional skills?
Since working with The River Source, I have enrolled in school for Business Administration and have become a certified Life Coach. All my experience from previous roles has helped me build up to these things.
What potential is there for career growth at The River Source?
I started as an overnight Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) and have been promoted many times. All the positions I’ve held are: BHT, Case Manager, Admissions Manager, Director of Admissions, and now Outreach Coordinator. This is all possible because the company believes in me.
What’s one memorable moment you've had since working here?
We have a Halloween party every year. Everyone is able to dress up and it never ceases to entertain. It’s just one example of how The River Source takes something from real life and shows you how it can be an enjoyable and fun thing while sober.
