Amanda D. – October 2013

My name is Amanda D. My sobriety date is August 7, 2013. I am a true garbage can junkie but my drugs of choice were heroin and meth. I began using when I was 12 years old and I am now 22. My life got bad really fast. I had lost myself in the chaos of “the drug life”. I had absolutely no knowledge of the 12 step program until my family helped me seek treatment here at River Source. My mom prayed for guidance in choosing a treatment facility and River Source was the one she was guided to. I have been at River Source for a little shy of 2 months. I would have never even imagined being where I am today. The holistic approach and recovery of (most) staff members have made my freedom & recovery possible. I have taken the most I can from each yoga session, group, meeting, and counseling session. I would not have ever in a billion years had the willingness, courage or discipline to do so had it not been for the genuine care of the staff themselves. I can comfortably say River Source staff have saved my life. They have given me a gift that I may never be able to thank them enough for, that gift is my life. I wouldn’t have wanted to ever seek treatment anywhere else because today I am happy, joyous, and free. I know these words will never be enough but they are a start… thank you River Source. You have given me an unimaginable journey and I will FOREVER keep you in my heart. Please keep giving to people what you have given so freely to me. A better way of life.
